IATA's challenge
IATA wanted training that would motivate participants, boost engagement and help them retain information better.
It also needed training to reach people without imposing it: employees had to want to do it.
- Boost engagement with training.
- Help people retain what they learn.
- Make employees want to train.
The solution
IATA made Triskelion and Pacific available on its LMS, announced them on the intranet and invited employees to sign up with a gamified email.
Employees who enjoyed Triskelion or Pacific share their experience with others, which helps more people join.

In their own words
I'm a total fan of game design, because I know it motivates participants, increases engagement and helps people retain information better.
Employees who enjoyed Triskelion or Pacific tell others about it, and some people come straight to us saying: we'd like to do Triskelion or Pacific.
I did Triskelion at home one weekend instead of playing other video games. So the game really is fun, and it draws you in.
The results
Some people go straight to HR asking to take Triskelion or Pacific. And there's a clear difference between those who've done Triskelion and those who haven't.
Managers who take Pacific give their teams more complete feedback. The HR manager also recommends the games because they're great fun: she played Triskelion at home one weekend instead of other video games.
