Colas's challenge

A few years ago, training at the Colas group was almost entirely classroom-based and far from digital. The head of training was clear that the group had to embrace a trend that keeps growing.

The group, present all over the world, was looking for new, fully innovative content, very different from what existed in the classroom.

  • Move from mostly classroom training to digital.
  • Offer innovative content to a worldwide group.
  • Win over people unsure about learning through play.

The solution

Colas turned to Game Strategies for a playful approach built on challenges: teams can compete against each other, which helps employees progress quite quickly.

It didn't limit it to one profile: everyone who needed to upskill played, young and not so young. Each person trains at any time, in short sessions.

In their own words

At first people said: you're going to make us play a game? Yes, but it's not just a game: you're going to learn something.

Once people took part, they were very, very quickly caught up in the game and the challenges between them.

We didn't assume only young people would get into it. We had everyone who needed to upskill play, and they all got into the game.

The results

At first there were doubts: “You're going to make us play a game?” But once they started, employees were quickly hooked on the game and on challenging each other, and came out with real skills.

The head of training played too, got hooked and wanted to go further to beat his colleagues while learning. He also stresses that Game Strategies has met the group's expectations every time.
