Carmeuse's challenge
More and more millennials are joining Carmeuse, and the company wanted its training to follow the trend towards digitalisation.
It was looking for something virtual and gamified: learning through play, something that has been lost over the years and that makes knowledge stick for longer.
- Adapt training to an increasingly young workforce.
- Digitalise training without losing impact.
- Make learning stick for the long term.
The solution
Carmeuse chose Merchants, Game Strategies' negotiation video game. The polished graphics mattered a lot, since people play on a computer.
So did the story: participants are transported to Venice, a period they've never lived through but that feels very realistic, which makes it easier to experiment without risk.

In their own words
Learning through play is very powerful: it leaves a stronger mark and anchors knowledge for the long term.
More and more millennials are entering the job market and our company, and I think we have to follow this trend towards digitalisation.
The results
The response was far greater than expected. As the video explains, participants themselves are the best advertising for the next sessions: the best way to convince colleagues it's a useful tool for their development.
For Carmeuse, learning through play lets people genuinely experience what they've learned and retain it for the long term.
