Almex's challenge

Almex wanted to train the people who negotiate most in their day-to-day work: department heads, managers and other highly involved roles.

Before rolling it out, the HR team presented the proposal to the leadership team and decided to start with a pilot across several groups.

  • Train daily negotiators in negotiation.
  • Win over leadership with a pilot.
  • Keep people engaged to the end.

The solution

The directors liked the proposal, and the pilot launched with Merchants, set in old Venice. Participants liked how the negotiation methodology is explained and the game's historical setting.

Competition did the rest: seeing colleagues progress and earn points encouraged everyone to level up.

In their own words

I'm no millennial, but I got hooked. I said: no way am I not getting past this level when my colleagues are moving ahead.

You get so motivated that you come in early to do your training, or stay a bit later, or do it at home on Saturdays and Sundays.

They said it was really cool, that they liked the way the negotiation methodology was explained.

The results

The pilot was a real success: people were very happy, talked about the courses and rated them highly. Many said they could apply what they learned and liked the way it was explained.

Almex is already preparing a second cohort with Merchants, and the first will continue with another Game Strategies course.
