Sigma Alimentos's challenge

Sigma Alimentos has employees all over Mexico, which made classroom training very difficult. Time was also short: managers don't want to release their people.

And staff were tired of the usual PowerPoint and of e-learning where you take screenshots to pass the exam. The brief was clear: do something different.

  • Train people spread across the country.
  • Do it with very little time available.
  • Move beyond PowerPoint and old-style e-learning.

The solution

The specific need was a negotiation course for the sales force, and the answer was Merchants. The process with Game Strategies was fast: they met in October and started rolling it out in January.

The programme comes with close follow-up: anyone who doesn't log in during the first week gets a friendly email to check in. And the training team receives a weekly report on each group's progress and each person's hours.

In their own words

The first thing I was told was: we need to do something different. We don't want people sitting at a computer clicking through a PowerPoint any more.

We have testimonials asking us to give them a new game every month. Some people get competitive and want to keep learning.

Every week they send you a report on how people are progressing and how many hours each person has put in. It really lets you follow up closely.

The results

People get hooked: the game is designed to last several weeks, and some finish it in a week and a half. The team has testimonials from employees asking for a new game every month.

Sigma Alimentos has more groups lined up in sales and plans to bring gamified training to other areas of the organisation.
