This is often due to the fact that the training methodologies employed do not take into account the need for an effective relationship between theory and practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Different experts in education innovation have studied and, in some cases, developed various aspects of what we call game-based learning, or learning through video games. Here is a selection of ten of them, which can serve as a basic reference for anyone who wishes to get involved with this method, and also wants to better understand its application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/rob-alvarez-bucholska\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rob \u00c1lvarez<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>He is a professor at the IE Business School, a public speaker, and a great ambassador for using gamification, primarily through his podcast <a href=\"https:\/\/www.professorgame.com\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Professor Game<\/a>. In 2021, he participated in Gamelearn\u2019s online event &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.game-learn.com\/en\/resources\/blog\/serious-games-serious-impact-presenting-online-training-that-truly-makes-an-impact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Serious Games, Serious Impact<\/a>&#8216;, where he provided insight into his main thoughts and concerns about resources that facilitate the important work of instructional designers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><a href=\"https:\/\/karlkapp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Karl Kapp<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A professor, writer, and specialist in educational technology. He has written six best-selling books, including <em>The Gamification of Learning and Instruction<\/em> (2012). Karl Kapp travels around the world explaining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.game-learn.com\/en\/resources\/blog\/karl-kapp-games-are-very-valuable-in-todays-corporate-environment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the advantages of game-based learning<\/a> through lectures and workshops and also participated in the 2021 English edition of the &#8216;Serious Games, Serious Impact&#8217; event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Gamelearn Annual Event 2021 | Serious Games, Serious Impact | L&amp;D consultants\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/645170031?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/yukaichou.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Yu-kai Chou<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A Taiwanese-American entrepreneur, author, public speaker, and consultant. He has made a name for himself in game-based learning as one of the pioneers in the development of the method. He has taken part in TED conferences and presented at Stanford University and at companies such as Google, Tesla, Lego, and Uber, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yu-kai Chou is the creator of the <a href=\"https:\/\/yukaichou.com\/gamification-examples\/octalysis-complete-gamification-framework\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Octalysis Framework<\/a>, a design platform based on gamification and gamified mentoring to transmit his knowledge and experience in behavioral sciences. In this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.game-learn.com\/en\/resources\/blog\/yu-kai-chou-gamification-can-make-learning-development-fun-and-engaging\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">interview with Gamelearn<\/a>, he tells us more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ibrahim-jabary-2457661\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ibrahim Jabary<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The CEO and co-founder of Gamelearn, where he has been a vital part in the design of all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.game-learn.com\/es\/catalog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">training video games developed by the company<\/a>. After a career working with international companies and his experience in Jabary Consulting, dedicated to management skills training, he focused on serious games with the creation of Gamelearn in 2007. It has become a <a href=\"https:\/\/techround.co.uk\/interviews\/ibrahim-jabary-ceo-at-gamelearn-game-based-training-and-e-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pioneer in the development of video games for corporate training<\/a> and a global reference in game-based learning applied to corporate environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/marioherger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mario Herger<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enterprise-gamification.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Enterprise Gamification Consultancy LLC<\/a> consulting group focused on innovation and gamification. He was responsible for the gamification initiative at SAP Labs, where he worked for 15 years and, in 2013, co-founded the Innovation Center Europe Silicon Valley (ICESV), which directly connects European companies to Silicon Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/janemcgonigal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jane McGonigal<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An internationally renowned game designer and author who uses technology, particularly video games, to channel positive attitudes in students. She has penned two New York Times bestsellers: <em>Reality is Broken: Why Games Make Us Better <\/em>and <em>How They Can Change the World y SuperBetter: The Power of Living Gamefully<\/em>. In 2010, Oprah Winfrey listed her as one of the 20 most influential women. A year earlier, Jane McGonigal suffered a concussion that changed her life and caused her to create her game, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ZztLac0Q1EI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jane the Concussion Slayer<\/a> to help treat concussions and other disorders such as anxiety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/suebohle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sue Bohle<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seriousplayconf.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Serious Play Conference<\/a> which embodies her passion for the use of play as an educational tool. The conferences at this event offer a variety of sessions on the use of serious games in different markets and fields, with a special focus on academic and corporate sectors. Thanks to Sue Bohle and her communication skills, trainers in the health sector, non-profit organizations, and companies of all kinds feel more supported in the integration of serious games in their training strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"http:\/\/matthewfarber.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matthew Farber<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An associate professor of educational technology at the University of Colorado and founder of the Gaming SEL Lab. During his research, he has focused on game-based learning and social and emotional learning. He\u2019s also done research into the creation of games that can promote empathy and ethical decision-making. Farber has been a guest at the White House and is a frequent contributor to <a href=\"https:\/\/mgiep.unesco.org\/games-for-learning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UNESCO MGIEP and Games for Change<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uk.linkedin.com\/in\/juliettedenny\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Juliette Denny<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.growthengineering.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Growth Engineering<\/a>, one of the largest providers of educational software in the world. She\u2019s an advocate for the implementation of gamification in the workplace and is an expert in student engagement, with significant results among several of her clients and partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/amyjokim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amy<\/a> et <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/scottekim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Scott Kim<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amyjokim.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amy Jo Kim<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/scottkim.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Scott Kim<\/a> are training game designers and founders of the<a href=\"https:\/\/gamethinking.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Game Thinking Academy<\/a>. They\u2019ve recently worked with prestigious brands such as Disney and have created educational games for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abcmouse.com\/\">ABCMouse.com<\/a>. Scott Kim holds a Ph.D. in Computer Philosophy and Graphic Design.
