What is gamification?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Surprisingly, there is already a dictionary definition of gamification. According to the Oxford diction, gamification is \u201cthe application of typical elements of game playing (e.g. point scoring, competition with others, rules of play) to other areas of activity, typically as an online marketing technique to encourage engagement with a product or service.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Marketing executives have been using games for decades to promote products. For example, McDonald\u2019s Monopoly game drew consumers to the fast-food chain in hopes of winning prizes and cash.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Although you may try to sugarcoat your corporate goals by writing a flowery mission statement, you are in business to make money. You shouldn\u2019t have to apologize for that. Making money is vital to our economy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Studies have shown that companies that use gamification with their employees can increase productivity by 43%<\/strong>, which, in turn, increases revenue by 23%. You may have been in the business world for decades. You may have suffered through boring, mundane jobs before clawing your way up the corporate ladder to positions of leadership.
